Pamporovo in the Rhodope Mountains is a favourite resort for families and for anyone who wants quiet forest walks between ski days – which makes it a good choice for a winter holiday with a dog. Getting there with a pet, a crate and ski bags is the hard part: there is no direct public transport from Sofia Airport, and changing buses with a dog is no fun. YesTrans drives you and your dog in a private car, minivan or van from Sofia Airport (about 230 km, around 3 h 30 min) or from Plovdiv (about 85 km, around 1 h 45 min) straight to your hotel or chalet in Pamporovo.
How much does it cost?
Prices are per vehicle, one way, in euro. Pay the driver after the ride, no prepayment.

Two ways to reach Pamporovo
- From Sofia Airport – the most common option for international visitors. About 230 km and around 3 h 30 min. The route goes along the motorway towards Plovdiv and then climbs into the Rhodopes.
- From Plovdiv – from your address in the city, from the railway or bus station, or from a hotel. About 85 km and around 1 h 45 min, most of it on the mountain road through the Rhodopes.
Both routes end in the mountains, so it makes sense to travel in a private vehicle where the dog has its own space and can rest quietly.
How the transfer with a dog works
- Book in advance. Call or write on Viber or WhatsApp at +359 897 227 771, or use the online booking form. Give us the date, the pick-up point (flight number if you land in Sofia) and the address in Pamporovo.
- Describe the pet. Dog or cat, approximate size, and whether it travels in a crate or a carrier.
- List the ski equipment in the booking note. How many pairs of skis, snowboards and boot bags you have – this decides the vehicle.
- Late flight? Waiting at Sofia Airport is unlimited when the flight is delayed.
- A break on the way. Three and a half hours is a longer drive, so we plan a short stop where the dog can walk and drink water. Just tell the driver when you need one.
- Door to door. We drop you at your hotel, apartment or chalet in Pamporovo, or in a nearby village if you stay outside the resort.
- Pay after the ride. No prepayment.
Price for the whole vehicle
The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person and not per pet. Use the calculator above to see the current price for your route and vehicle. When you book, tell the operator that you travel with a pet and how much luggage you have – the operator confirms the vehicle and the final price. Child seats are free of charge.
Choosing the vehicle
- Sedan – one or two travellers with a cat or a small dog in a carrier and a small amount of luggage.
- Minivan – a family with a larger dog in a crate, ski bags and suitcases.
- Van – a group, several dogs or a lot of equipment.
- S/E class – a premium car for a more comfortable long drive.
We have around 200 sedans, 50 minivans, 100 vans and 20 S/E class cars and work 24/7, so we can match early morning or late evening flights.
Winter roads in the Rhodopes
The last part of the trip to Pamporovo is a mountain road with many bends, and winter conditions can change during the day. The driver plans for winter road conditions and drives calmly – the goal is to arrive safely, not as fast as possible. If you have special equipment or requests, write them in the booking note and we will plan the vehicle accordingly.
Many dogs are calmer on winding roads if they have not eaten a big meal shortly before the trip. Water is fine – take a small bowl with you. If your dog is prone to travel sickness, ask your vet for advice before the holiday.
Tips for a ski week with a dog in Pamporovo
- Check with your accommodation that dogs are welcome before you book the room.
- Bring a towel and something warm for the dog’s bed – snow on the paws is part of the fun.
- Keep the dog on a lead near the slopes and the lifts.
- Plan the return transfer together with the arrival so the date is secured.
Pets travel only with their owner
We transport dogs and cats only together with their owner or the person who looks after them. The crate or carrier is yours. Documents for the animal are the owner’s responsibility – we simply drive you and your pet from door to door.
