From Varna to Burgas it is about 130 km, and the drive takes around 2 hours 15 minutes. The road follows the Black Sea coast and crosses the eastern tip of the Balkan Mountains. Which road does the transfer take from Varna to Burgas?
From Varna we head south, over the Asparuhov Bridge or around the lake, and continue through Staro Oryahovo and Byala to Obzor. After Obzor the road climbs over the Balkan Mountains towards Cape Emine – this is the section with the most bends. Then we descend to Sveti Vlas and Sunny Beach, pass Nessebar and Pomorie and arrive in Burgas.
In summer, the slowest stretches are through Sunny Beach and Obzor. In winter and spring the road is quiet, though there may be fog on the mountain section. The driver knows which hours are busy and will suggest when to set off.
When should I leave Varna?
- For a flight from Burgas Airport – leave Varna about 4 hours before departure, and a little earlier in summer.
- Summer Saturdays – lots of cars on the coast road. Early morning or evening is faster.
- Off season – the road is clear at any time, and 2 hours 15 minutes is realistic.
- At night – we work 24/7.
Where can you pick me up and drop me off?
In Varna we pick you up from any address, the railway station, the bus station, Varna Airport or the resorts to the north – Golden Sands and St. St. Constantine and Helena. In Burgas we drop you off in the city, at the railway station, at the port or at Burgas Airport near Sarafovo. In the calculator you can also select Burgas Airport as your destination.
Can you drop us at a resort on the way?
Yes. The Varna – Burgas road runs past half of Bulgaria’s Black Sea resorts. If you are heading not to Burgas itself but to Obzor, Sunny Beach, Nessebar or Sveti Vlas, give us the address and the dispatcher will confirm the price for that exact destination.
- Byala and Obzor – the quieter resorts in the northern part of the route.
- Elenite and Sveti Vlas – right after the mountain section.
- Sunny Beach and Nessebar – about 35 km before Burgas.
- Pomorie – on a peninsula about 20 km from Burgas.
Why a transfer rather than the bus or train?
Buses from Varna to Burgas arrive at the bus stations and do not go to the airport or your hotel. The train is much slower because it takes an inland route.
