Pamporovo is in the Rhodope mountains, with gentle slopes that families and beginners like. From Sofia Airport it is a longer drive than to Bansko or Borovets, so going direct makes the biggest difference: YesTrans picks you up at arrivals and drives you to your hotel, with room for skis, suitcases and children.
The drive from Sofia Airport to Pamporovo is about 230 km and takes about 3 h 30 min. You travel in one vehicle, door to door, with stops when you need them.

The road from Sofia Airport to Pamporovo
The first part of the journey follows the Trakia motorway from Sofia towards Plovdiv. Near Plovdiv the route turns south, passes Asenovgrad and climbs into the Rhodope mountains along a winding road through the gorge of the Chaya river and past the Bachkovo Monastery. The last section goes through Chepelare, a small ski town of its own, before reaching Pamporovo.
The mountain section is scenic but has many bends, so if anyone in your group gets car-sick, tell the driver – a short stop and some fresh air help. In winter, snow can slow down the mountain part, so the 3 h 30 min is a guide, not a promise. We would rather drive carefully than fast.
Pamporovo’s hotels are spread around the ski area, with some close to the lifts and others in the forest. Give us the exact name of your hotel, and if you are staying in a nearby village such as Chepelare or Smolyan, tell us – we will drive you right to your accommodation.
How the Sofia Airport to Pamporovo transfer works
- Book in advance. Call, WhatsApp or Viber us on +359 897 227 771, or use the online booking form. Give us your flight number, arrival date and time, the address in Pamporovo, the number of passengers and your luggage.
- Your flight is late? We wait. If your flight is delayed, waiting at the airport is unlimited. You do not pay extra for a late plane and you do not need to call us from the baggage hall.
- Meet your driver at arrivals. The driver helps you with the suitcases, ski bags and boot bags and loads everything into the vehicle.
- Straight to your door. One vehicle, only your group, no stops at other hotels. You get out at the entrance of your accommodation in Pamporovo.
- Pay after the ride. There is no prepayment and you do not need to give card details to book.
Which vehicle to choose
We work with around 200 sedans, 50 minivans, 100 vans and 20 Mercedes S- and E-Class cars. The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person, so it gets cheaper per head the more of you there are.
- Two or three skiers with gear – a sedan is usually enough if the ski bags are not too long; tell us the number of bags.
- Family or group of four to six with skis and snowboards – a minivan, so everything fits without stacking bags on your lap.
- Larger groups, ski clubs and school trips – a van with room for everyone and all the equipment.
- Business trips – a Mercedes S- or E-Class.
Price
The price is fixed for the whole vehicle and depends on the type of car you need – sedan, minivan, van or Mercedes S/E-Class. See prices in the calculator, or send us a WhatsApp message with your date, number of passengers and luggage and we will reply with the exact price. You pay after the ride.
Tips for your trip
- Because the drive is longer, plan a short break at a petrol station on the motorway – just ask the driver.
- If someone in your group gets car-sick on mountain roads, let them sit in the front.
- Families with young children: child seats are free of charge; tell us the ages when you book.
- Count your ski bags and snowboards so we can send a vehicle that fits everything.
Travelling with a dog or cat
Bringing your dog or cat on a ski holiday? Many taxis will not take animals, but with YesTrans your pet travels with you on the Sofia Airport to Pamporovo route. Tell us when you book what kind of animal it is, roughly how big, and whether it travels in a crate or a carrier – this is how we choose the right vehicle, so the crate fits safely next to your luggage. On a longer drive we stop so your dog can stretch its legs and drink some water.
Please note: we transport pets only together with their owner or a person who looks after them and travels in the car. The crate or carrier is yours. Read more on our pet-friendly transfers in Bulgaria page and on Sofia Airport transfer with a dog or cat.
