The road from Sofia Airport to Bansko

From the airport the driver takes the ring road around Sofia and then heads south on the Struma motorway towards Blagoevgrad. Before Simitli the road turns east and climbs over the Predela pass between the Rila and Pirin mountains, then drops down into the Razlog valley. Bansko is only a few minutes beyond Razlog, at the bottom of the gondola that takes skiers up to the slopes.

In winter the last part of the road is a mountain road, so after heavy snowfall the drive can take longer than the usual 2 h 15 min. Your driver knows the route and will not rush – arriving safely matters more than arriving five minutes earlier. Landing late is fine: we work 24/7.

Bansko itself is a compact town with an old quarter of stone houses and traditional taverns, and most hotels are within a short distance of the gondola. Tell us the exact name of your hotel or the address of your apartment, and the driver will stop right outside, not at a central drop-off point.
