The road from Sofia Airport to Borovets

The route leaves Sofia to the south-east and follows the road towards Samokov, the old town at the foot of the Rila mountains. After Samokov the road starts to climb through pine forest, and a few kilometres later you reach Borovets. The resort is spread along the road, with hotels close to the gondola and the main ski area, so the driver takes you to the exact entrance of your hotel.

Borovets is Bulgaria’s oldest mountain resort and sits below Musala, the highest peak of the Balkan Peninsula. It is popular with families and groups of friends because the airport is close and the resort is compact. Because the drive is short, many guests also use our transfers for a day trip to Sofia or to the Rila Monastery during their stay – just ask.

In winter the last part of the road climbs into the mountains. After fresh snow the drive can take a little longer than 1 h 30 min, but the distance is short and your driver knows the road well. We work 24/7, so an early-morning or late-night flight is not a problem.

How the Sofia Airport to Borovets transfer works

  1. Book in advance. Call, WhatsApp or Viber us on +359 897 227 771, or use the online booking form. Give us your flight number, arrival date and time, the address in Borovets, the number of passengers and your luggage.
  2. Your flight is late? We wait. If your flight is delayed, waiting at the airport is unlimited. You do not pay extra for a late plane and you do not need to call us from the baggage hall.
  3. Meet your driver at arrivals. The driver helps you with the suitcases, ski bags and boot bags and loads everything into the vehicle.
  4. Straight to your door. One vehicle, only your group, no stops at other hotels. You get out at the entrance of your accommodation in Borovets.
  5. Pay after the ride. There is no prepayment and you do not need to give card details to book.

Which vehicle to choose

We work with around 200 sedans, 50 minivans, 100 vans and 20 Mercedes S- and E-Class cars. The price is for the whole vehicle, not per person, so it gets cheaper per head the more of you there are.

  • Two or three skiers with gear – a sedan is usually enough if the ski bags are not too long; tell us the number of bags.
  • Family or group of four to six with skis and snowboards – a minivan, so everything fits without stacking bags on your lap.
  • Larger groups, ski clubs and school trips – a van with room for everyone and all the equipment.
  • Business trips – a Mercedes S- or E-Class.

Price

The price is fixed for the whole vehicle and depends on the type of car you need – sedan, minivan, van or Mercedes S/E-Class. See prices in the calculator, or send us a WhatsApp message with your date, number of passengers and luggage and we will reply with the exact price. You pay after the ride.

Tips for your trip

  • Tell us how many people, suitcases, ski bags and snowboards you have – a group of four with gear usually needs a minivan.
  • If you rent equipment in the resort, you will travel lighter and a sedan may be enough for two or three people.
  • Book the transfer back to Sofia Airport at the same time and give us your departure flight time.
  • Travelling with small children? Child seats are free of charge; tell us their ages when you book.

Travelling with a dog or cat

Bringing your dog or cat on a ski holiday? Many taxis will not take animals, but with YesTrans your pet travels with you on the Sofia Airport to Borovets route. Tell us when you book what kind of animal it is, roughly how big, and whether it travels in a crate or a carrier – this is how we choose the right vehicle, so the crate fits safely next to your luggage. On a longer drive we stop so your dog can stretch its legs and drink some water.

Please note: we transport pets only together with their owner or a person who looks after them and travels in the car. The crate or carrier is yours. Read more on our pet-friendly transfers in Bulgaria page and on Sofia Airport transfer with a dog or cat.
